We’re looking for a Cheese & Liquor Specialist to join our beautiful West Hobart store, someone with genuine product knowledge, a love for Tasmanian producers, and a talent for creating memorable customer experiences.

In this role, you will:

• Showcase your cheese expertise by presenting Tasmania’s finest range of local and international cheeses, charcuterie and specialty products.

• Curate enticing displays that celebrate seasonality, spark conversation and inspire customers to taste, explore and indulge.

• Engage customers with confidence, offering tastings, pairing suggestions (including Tasmanian wine, whisky and other specialty liquor items), flavour notes and preparation ideas.

• Cut, wrap and prepare cheese with precision and care, ensuring freshness, correct handling and beautiful presentation.

• Keep the department immaculate and well-stocked, maintaining the exceptional standard Hill Street is known for.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience working with cheese is highly desirable, whether from retail, hospitality, production, delis, kitchens or as a bona fide cheese monger.

• Passion for food and drink, and a willingness to continually grow your product knowledge.

• A warm, friendly attitude and excellent communication skills, our customers come to Hill Street for the service as much as the food.

• Energy, initiative and a positive mindset, with the ability to follow food safety and WHS procedures.

• Daytime availability across 3–4 days per week plus every second weekend; your standard roster will be built around both your availability and our operational needs.

• Physical fitness for lifting, standing and working in a hands-on food environment.

Pay Rates

Pay rates are set by the General Retail Industry Award.2025–26 level 4 adult base hourly rates are:

• Weekdays: $28.12

• Saturday: $33.19

• Sunday: $42.18

• Public Holidays: $63.27

Remuneration above the award may be considered commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts. Please view the full Award for all applicable rates and allowances.
